Brandon McCullough

Director of Engineering Operations

Brandon McCullough was appointed Director of Engineering Operations for CymSTAR in May 2021. In this capacity, Brandon directs and guides CymSTAR’s Engineering Department consisting of Engineering Managers, engineers, developers, technicians, assemblers, and technical writers. Brandon’s primary objective is to ensure CymSTAR’s contracted efforts are completed on time, within budget, and with technically robust solutions. He also is responsible for overall hiring, training, and development of engineering staff, evaluating and supporting new business opportunities, improving engineering quality processes and procedures, and managing the engineering budget for the training, certifications, licenses, and tooling necessary to corporate success.

Brandon joined CymSTAR in January 2005 as a Senior Systems and Software Engineer responsible for designing, developing, and testing simulator software modifications. His role expanded in 2008 when he was promoted to Principal Systems and Software Engineer and began leading engineering projects for the company. In December 2012, Brandon moved into a full-time management role as CymSTAR’s first dedicated Software Engineering Manager supervising software and aerospace engineers and served in this role for eight and a half years.

Through the implementation of expanded engineering processes, enhanced training, and talent hiring over the past ten years, Brandon was instrumental in helping CymSTAR meet the challenges of sustained growth. Most recently, Brandon has been leading the approach to implementing Agile workflow practices and a hybrid work environment.

Before CymSTAR, Brandon worked as an Aerospace Engineer collecting, analyzing, modeling, and implementing flight test data into training device simulations. Brandon holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Kansas.

Brandon, his wife Katie, and children Ben and Elizabeth enjoy vacationing in Florida and Colorado, spending time with nearby family and friends, and cheering on their beloved Kansas Jayhawks in all sports.
