Experience: The CymSTAR staff has successfully completed over fifty concurrency and technology modifications to training devices built by various original equipment manufacturers. In addition, we have designed and produced seven Flight Training Devices which featured the re-hosting of GFE full flight software loads. Successful completion of these projects is direct evidence of CymSTAR’s excellent capability to interpret and understand original manufacturer designs and to modify these designs with minimal disruption to the original systems. This demonstrated experience translates directly into lower cost, schedule and performance risk in training device development, modification and installation.

Experience Categories:

  • Avionics concurrency upgrades to flight simulators, including upgrades to flight management systems (FMS), global positioning systems (GPS), weather radar, inertial navigation systems (INS), fuel savings advisory systems (FSAS), traffic collision avoidance systems (TCAS), terrain avoidance warning systems (TAWS), enhanced ground-proximity warning systems (EGPWS), reduced vertical separation minimums/minima (RVSM), global air traffic management (GATM), all weather flight control systems (AWFCS), enhanced navigation systems (ENS). These upgrades included stimulation and simulation of aircraft units, with emulation of all appropriate interfaces, such as 1553 and ARINC.
  • Technology upgrades to flight simulators, including aerodynamic upgrade effort (AUE), automated test guide systems (ATG), electric control loading (ECL), host computer replacements (rehost), sound systems upgrades, interface (I/F) systems replacement/upgrade, and instructor operator station (IOS) upgrades.
  • Reuse/rehost of existing trainer device software into alternate hardware platforms. The designed and developed low cost student stations for flight training devices (FTD).
  • Maintenance trainer enhancements, including technology insertions, aircraft concurrence upgrades, addition of simulated and stimulated aircraft components, malfunction enhancements and mechanical, electrical and software updates.
